We spoke with Andrew Harrison, Managing Director of Resonance Health (ASX:RHT), about the company’s recent progress in developing an MRI-based diagnostic that can accurately measure liver fibrosis.
If successful, it would potentially allow clinicians to obtain from a single MRI examination, liver fat, liver iron and liver fibrosis without requiring a biopsy. The explosion in obesity drugs from companies like Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly has dramatically increased interest in metabolic liver disease, but for them to be successful, drug developers need objective biomarkers to determine whether treatments reduce liver fat and halt or reverse fibrosis. This makes Resonance’s new product a potential game-changer.
