Great Northern Minerals (ASX:GNM) Soars on 7.1% Antimony Hit at Catalyst Ridge
Great Northern Minerals Surges 15% on High-Grade Antimony Discovery
Great Northern Minerals (ASX: GNM) has surged 15% today following strong news from its Catalyst Ridge project, which hosts antimony and rare earth mineralisation. The announcement focused on the discovery of an antimony sulphide vein extending over a 1 km strike length, with vein widths ranging from 1 m to 6 m and reported very high antimony grades of up to 7.1%.
Catalyst Ridge is located in the Mojave Desert, adjacent to one of the most strategic rare earth assets in the US, Mountain Pass, which is known for its rich light rare earth deposits, particularly NdPr. While Catalyst Ridge remains an early stage exploration project, its proximity to Mountain Pass underscores the potential growth trajectory for GNM if ongoing exploration continues to deliver and the project is progressively de risked toward a mine development pathway.

Antimony Discovery Could Signal Deeper Gold Potential
What is important for investors to note is that antimony, arsenic, and mercury veins often sit above or adjacent to zones that can also host gold and silver mineralisation. This geological relationship is consistent with what has been observed in the nearby Colosseum project, located close to GNM’s ground and the Mountain Pass region, which has delivered a gold deposit of approximately 1 million ounces. Structural and geological similarities between these systems are visible through satellite imagery and regional mapping, supporting the broader exploration thesis.
Further supporting this potential, assays from historical dump material at the site returned the following results:
• Sample 258579 recorded 7.06% antimony, 23.3 g/t silver, and 0.41% tungsten
• Sample 258578 recorded 6.16% antimony and 5.2 g/t silver
• Sample 258576 recorded 3.53% antimony and 12.6 g/t silver
• Sample 258577 recorded 1.9% antimony and 5.2 g/t silver
What Investors Should Know About GNM
These results highlight the presence of high grade antimony accompanied by meaningful silver credits, reinforcing the upside optionality of the Catalyst Ridge system as exploration progresses. The conceptual model presented in the announcement visually outlines this geological setting, with antimony rich veins occurring near surface while potential gold and silver target zones are interpreted to sit deeper within the rock structures.
It is important to note that no gold discovery has been made and no economic gold grades have been reported at this stage. Rather, the significance of the announcement is that the geological setting increases the probability of gold and silver mineralisation at depth. This interpretation materially enhances the prospectivity of the project area and provides a clear rationale for further exploration and drilling to test these deeper targets.
